Located at the gateway to the Cevennes, 30 km from the historic city of Nîmes and less than 100 km from the Mediterranean, the city of Alès has a long history of mining and a tradition of migration and exchange. Connected to the European research and higher education network and a member of the Institut Mines Telecom network (Link), IMT Mines Ales is a choice destination for students coming to study in France.
Our ambition is to strengthen our international identity, expand our network of foreign partner institutions and forge links with laboratories and companies on a global scale.
Two years of specialization are currently offered in English-language programs, as well as an international master’s degree taught entirely in English.
IMT Mines Alès welcomes nearly 115 international students, nearly half of whom are exchange students from partner institutions (representing more than 45 nationalities on campus).

Admission
Credit Transfers or Dual Degree Programs
International students may be admitted to IMT Mines Alès through supervised exchange programs, credit transfers, or dual degree agreements. They may be admitted to IMT Mines Alès through the following main channels:
- IMT Recruitment : The school participates in international student recruitment campaigns as part of IMT’s overall recruitment efforts, primarily in China, Colombia, and Brazil—target countries where all IMT schools join forces to recruit international students through IMT’s representative offices in these three countries
- IMT Mines Alès Recruitment : The school also organizes its own recruitment campaigns through its partners (partner universities under dual-degree or credit transfer agreements). After being selected by their home university (primarily in Morocco and Mauritania, but also through the Erasmus+ program), candidates are selected by the school based on their academic standing and a recruitment interview.
- An alternative option is individual mobility through admission based on academic credentials: International students can apply directly through the recruitment channels organized collectively abroad by IMT.
For students who are not native French speakers, a minimum proficiency level (B2) is required before arrival in France.
French summer school
Admitted students have the opportunity to improve their French language skills at an intensive French language school that offers immersion in French culture (French Summer School). This program is jointly organized within IMT.
Welcome Week (late August / early September)
Once admitted, international students receive support in organizing their trip to France and to Alès.
Upon arrival, they receive assistance with finding housing and navigating everyday administrative procedures…
To further support their arrival and settlement on campus, a welcome week is dedicated to international students before classes begin: Welcome Week.
Featuring a campus orientation day, administrative procedures, social events, and intercultural workshops, this dedicated week aims to facilitate the integration of international students into the school and their class.
All of these support procedures for international students have led IMT Mines Alès to join the “Bienvenue en France” certification program.
